ABOUT THE MOVIE

Natsamrat is an engrossing &  rich story of an actor who has scaled dizzying heights of popularity in his career and goes on to retire at the peak. Harindra Pathak (Siddharth Randeria) is the protagonist who goes on to realize that his popularity & importance stay valid & relevant only till he is onstage. Let down by circumstances & his own blood, Harindra eventually retires to a life of complete obscurity and alienation.

The literal title 'emperor among the actors'  is ironical as the emperor is reduced to a life on the footpaths where he and his talents remain unrecognisable and uncelebrated. It is an apt corollary for the strange twists & turns that life presents and how we are mere puppets at the hands of destiny.

Supported by an outstanding cast of actors like the ever-dependable Manoj Joshi, Deepika Chikhalia & Tasneem Sheikh, the movie is a Gujarati theatrical adaptationof the Marathi movie by the same name.
