Make your leather bags last longer

Investing in an expensive #leather_bag is easy, but to make them last a long time it's imperative to maintain them well.

A good protection cream and usage of different pouches for your make-up and lotions, are some habits that help in a long life for your leather bag.

Rashi Menda, CEO and Founder at Zapyle, an online marketplace for premium fashion, and Bhavya Chawla, Chief Stylist at e-commerce portal Voonik, have some tips to share:

* Prevention: Caring for your leather tote starts from day one - use a good protection cream or treatment at least once every two to three months. This prevents staining, grease penetration and so many more issues later on.

* Always keep your leather bag in an upright position in their dust bags or a cotton pillowcase. Make sure never to store them in plastic or vinyl, because these tend to trap moisture inside.

Nail marbling, mirror nails or 3D nail art - its time to have some fun with your #nail_art, say experts.

Disha Meher, National Expert - Skin and Nails, Lakmé Salon, and experts from Italian beauty brand KIKO MILANO, have shared some trends.

* When in doubt, go with something impossibly fresh. Clear polish on clean nails is the understated look that continues to be a staple on runways from Milan to New York.

* Have some fun with your nail art. Go for geometric shapes like circles and squares and try an achromatic design on a single finger or go all out with every nail.

* If you want to infuse some colour into your beauty routine but candy hues aren't your style, pastels are just as fresh, whether you prefer an almost-nude apricot or something soft and pink.

"But a really good director has the capacity to say, ‘Okay, let's kick this about'. Like how I worked with Woody Allen (‘You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger' in 2010). He said, ‘So now you can do it again and kick it around a bit and improvise'. It's good to see people relaxed and being confident in what you can do."

This film is not of a kind which you watch with your buddies as you will not get an opportunity to dance or have fun. It is a very emotional film. Even an emotionless, stone hearted person will get tears in his eyes. So this is an emotional film to be seen with parents, grand parents and entire family."

I am very choosy: Upen Patel

Actor Upen Patel doesn't agree with the bazaar buzz that Suneel Darshan's romantic musical mystery "Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha" is his come-back film to Bollywood. Maintaining that he has always been part of the Hindi celluloid world, he says that he is choosy in picking his projects because he feels a responsibility towards his audience.

Upen pointed out that his last film in Bollywood was S. Shankar's "I" which released in 2015 -- only two years ago. "No one asks superstars like Aamir Khan or Salman Khan when they come out with a movie a year."

"If Aamir Khan gives his biggest film every three years, no one asks what you were doing in the last three years. Hrithik Roshan comes out with a film after two years and no one asks where have you been," Upen told over phone.

He added: "As an actor I get a lot of offers but I have to wait for the right movie. I have to do something that I believe in. I think a lot of actors take their time like Salman Khan. As an actor you have a certain responsibility towards your audience."

The actor has been part of big projects like "36 China Town", "Namastey London", "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" and S. Shankar's "I". He will be next seen in "Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha", which is set to release on June 30.

It's just that I am locked up with Kabir (Khan)," said Salman during an interview to UC News.

Sex can boost brain power in older adults

Staying busy in your bedroom even after age 50 could be good for your brain as researchers have found that older adults who have #sex more frequently do better in #brain function tests.

The researchers found that those who engaged in more regular sexual activity scored higher on tests that measured their verbal fluency and their ability to visually perceive objects.

"People don't like to think that older people have sex - but we need to challenge this conception at a societal level and look at what impact sexual activity can have on those aged 50 and over, beyond the known effects on sexual health and general well being," said lead researcher Hayley Wright from Coventry University in England.

Style tricks to look taller

Short in height? Wear flared jeans, deep V shaped necklines and long topcoats to appear taller, say experts.

Salesh Grover, Business Head, OSL Luxury Collections Pvt. Ltd - Corneliani, and Vandana Anurag, Founder of The Parisian Boudoir (online-multi-brand boutique), have suggested few tricks on how you can appear taller:

* Flared jeans: Flared jeans which are well fitted and have a long hemline will instantly make your legs look longer.

* Deep V-necks: Deep and elongated V neck dresses and tops will automatically shift the focus to your upper half of the body and will subtly take away the focus from your legs, adding glamour and style to your outfit.

* Maxi dresses: Maxi dresses are people's favourite and they look good on all body shapes and heights. Pairing up heels with your maxi dress is a win-win as it enhances your body shape and add a few inches at the same time.

* Low contrasting footwear: Shoes for the shorter men are critical as they can have a lengthening effect it has to be kept in mind that the shoes don't contrast too much with the trousers. The low contrast will visually elongate the leg.

Bring wellness mantra to work culture

It is very important to emphasise the need and importance of #wellness time and again at office. So, the key is to follow an individualistic fitness mantra, and participate in #yoga, cycling, swimming, or running events organised by companies, say experts.

Jagdish Mitra, Tech Mahindra's Chief Strategy Officer, Aman Arora, Co-founder and Director, Keventers, and Shanti Sundar, India HR head and Senior Director at Pegasystems, tell how to introduce wellness mantra to work culture

* Corporates imbibe the process of fitness and other forms of exercise by integrating it with their work culture. Integration of wellness and fitness leads to a stress free team, ready to face challenges with an open mind.

* In today's world where we constantly have an overdose of information being given to us through various mediums, it is very important for each one of us to disconnect from our regular work schedule and connect with our inner self.

Films cannot change society but can start a dialogue: Kabir Khan

#Kabir_Khan focuses on political conflicts and how that affects humanity with most of his films like "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", "Ek Tha Tiger", "New York" and "Kabul Express". The filmmaker says though he is aware that a film cannot bring any change in a society, he believes the power of cinema can impact the human mind.

His forthcoming film "Tubelight", featuring superstar Salman Khan and his brother Sohail, is set in the backdrop of the India-China war of 1962.

Asked whether his films reflect his political views, Kabir told: "Absolutely! Like the way a painter paints to express his view, I as a filmmaker make films to express my viewpoint, my perspective on things. My ideology comes out in my films and I believe that we should have our ideology, without that we would be animals."

He added: "I know that a film cannot change the society but it can start a dialogue. I believe that a film is a powerful medium to make you think about things at least for once. It is not powerful enough to change the society; but hey, the fact that a film can make people think and discuss something itself is powerful enough."

Don't endorse GST, Congress urges Amitabh

The Congress' Mumbai unit on Wednesday asked megastar #Amitabh_Bachchan to refrain from acting as the Brand Ambassador for the upcoming Goods & Services Tax #GST being rolled out from July 1.

"Both Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) and Finance Minister (Arun Jaitley) know that the government is not ready nor does it have the infrastructure to roll out GST. That's why it is using a legend like Amitabh Bachchan so that he becomes the fall guy and has to face the brickbats," Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam said in a statement.

Nirupam noted that he had the utmost respect for the superstar and hence "wanted to caution him" against being used by government on the issue of GST.
